A local mechanic told my my transmission is going out and needs replaced. I think my truck has the 4L60E transmission. Can I upgrade to a 4L70E or 4L80E? Is this a difficult and costly upgrade? Or should I beef up the transmission I currently have? Any information would be great.

I would just the standard transmission, not sure if you can use the other transmissions, the main thing you want to do is add a quality external oil cooler as this will help reduce temp stress on the trans and this is one of the main things that kill transmissions.
