Gas gauge stays on E, engine sputters uncontrollably, emits a bad exhaust odor - almost like sulfur.

The car barely idles without dying. It has no "get-up-and-go". It sputters like crazy. You would think it was going backfire but it doesn't. And it emits a really bad odor - almost like sulfur.

Sulfur odor: Most likely a bad catalytic converter. Check O2 sensor. Check MAF/MAP sensor. Check IAC and EGR.

This is most likely caused by an air/fuel mixture that has too much fuel in it.

The gas gauge issue is either the sending unit or gauge (or both)has gone bad, the wiring has gone bad, or the fuse has been blown.
