I have a powertrain control module out of a 96 merc. couger 4.6 V8 will it work in a 97 thunderbird 4.6 V8. The pin location and number are identical and I understand they are sister cars.Are they that closely related ?

We only recommend direct fit parts. However, if the part number is the same, it should work. And yes, they are very similar vehicles.
