1997 ford taurus, heater producing only mild -warm air??

The heater produces only mild warm air even though set at highest level.

What should I know before I take it to repair shop?

The first thing i would check is if both heater hoses are getting really hot going into the heater core thru the fire wall.If they are you have a blend door issue.If they arent you have a possibley restricted heater core.
