1997 Ford Taurus Mom Got Brakes Changed On Cart About Three Months Before Broke

My mom got the brakes changed on my cart about three months before it broke down. Now we have it fixed and the brakes are squeaking horribly! They squeaked before but no where near as bad. I know that the brakes are not old nor the pads. How can I fix this and for how much. I'll take it to a mechanic.
