I've been wanting to know something for a long time, but how do I know which engine goes in which vehicle? For instance will any engine fit any vehicle what would I have to do to make it fit. If I got a 351w could I put it into a ford taurus? How is it measured out?

There are limits to engine conversions, the practicalities are foremost, you have to look at not just the engine adaption but the transmission, and then how the rest of the car works around the conversion, such as brakes and suspension. In short most conversions are for show and not a practical option, some conversions swap inline 6cyl for V8's with these conversions you have a lot of room to work with, cost is a major factor, it will not be cheap. You do see many conversion project for sale mainly because the person has just hit a brick wall with problems and cost over runs frankly your conversion idea is just not a good idea, it will probably never fit and the problems you would encounter would be enormous.

Doing anything like this to a late model vehicle would be an unbelievably difficult task, not to mention that it would be against Federal law in the US to do this. These are computer controlled vehicles with an operating system that was engineered for one engine and one engine only. The vehicle was also emissions certified when it left the factory and tampering with that package in any way would be illegal.
