'97 Ford Taurus 3.0 Duratec V-6 DOHC AT with "Check Engine" light on. Dash light was unplugged after a rebuild was 'installed' @ 30,000 miles ago(source of info was previous owner). Engine runs as it should, not overheating or missing. In fact, runs exceptional. Located in Alaska. Wouldn't pass municipal IM test because of light and Canister Purge Valve trouble code. Several mechanics have diagnosed and the local dealership replaced the following: Computer (twice), all worn wires on motor, Canister Purge Valve and the Vapor Canister Solenoid. Still, after resetting, the "Check Engine" light is on with the code saying the Canister Purge Valve as the culprit. All else if functioning properly (mechanics comment: "Darn good running motor in great shape."). Any ideas?
