It got stuck in fourth gear while I was driving. I'd my transmission gone or is there a way I can get it out of fourth gear ????

Very doubtful it's the transmission. The shifter linkage is the place to start looking, especially if the shift lever moves around too freely. It is also possible a shift fork inside the transmission broke but on most vehicles that can be repaired without removing the transmission or doing a major disassembly.
