I have a 1997 ford mustang that will not start. I believe the fillerneck seal is out. Also the theft light on the dash will not quit blinking. Do I need a new key? Will the neck seal have an affect on my fuel pump or any other fuel related componets?

The reason it doesn't start is because of the theft system. I hate to say it, but it has to go to a dealer to be checked. Thery are the only ones that have the proper test equipment to check this type of problem.

So a new key would not fix the problem.

It could, if the problem is the sensor in the key. However, it isn't something you can have made at wal-mart. You would have to get it at a dealer and it has to be programed to match your vehicle's system. That is assuming the key is the problem.
