Freeze plug--hot to install?

The freeze plug to the engine block, under the motor mount rusted and cracked. I removed it and put a new one in but after a 20 minute drive it popped out.
I need advice for how to put a new plug in and have it stay there...like, forever.
Does it need adhesive to stay there, and if so what kind would be recommended for the job?

It does not need adhesive, it just needs to be installed correctly. Look at the other plugs and see how far they are in, then when you put the new one in make sure it is in as far as the others.

A coating of paint would be good.

BASICALLY, IT'S A "SQUEEZE PLUG", I'VE SEEN 'EM STAY IN FOR OVER 10 YEARS.
