Hello, I have been experiencing a clunking sound and feel in my steering wheel when my truck's suspension is being flexed and when I put on brakes and take off. It sounds as if it was an old rusted spring on a screen door. The clunking is very audible. However, while driving down the road there is no sound from the steering wheel or suspension. I have just replaced all the suspension parts from ball joints to steering box and it has two new front shocks. I did notice that the lower steering shaft didn't not slip back and forth like it should (at least in my opinion). I have also changed the anti sway bar links. My question is: Could it be the steering shaft or shifter tube that is causing the sound? Or have I missed something in the suspension?

Have you checked the bushings in the tracking bars?

I should have posted that I have a 2 wheel drive truck. I don't think I have track bars on it. Of course I could be mistaken on that. Thanks for the post.

Just wanted to give an update. I replaced the steering shaft and for now that has fixed the clunking in the steering wheel. Thanks.
