The approximate amount is 5.5 pints, but we rarely waste customers' time measuring that. It should be filled to 1/4" of the bottom of the fill hole. 4 ounces of additive are needed if you have a locking axle, (limited slip). Typically if you don't use it when it's needed, you'll get chatter when turning. No additive is needed for "open" axles.

Different and better looking feller.

If you don't know if you have limited slip.

This is a way to check.

On level ground,

Chock front and backside of front wheels,

Tranny in neutral,

Raise rear of vehicle until wheels are off of the ground.

Spin one wheel forward,

If the other goes the same direction, you have limited slip.

If the other wheel goes opposite (rearward) You have a standard differential.

Here's what one brand of additive looks like. See my link.

Let us know how it all works out.

The gear lube part number is F1TZ-19580-B or WSP-M2C192-A "or equivalent".
The friction modifier number is C8AZ-19B946-A or EST-M2C118-A "or equivalent".

There's no need to memorize those numbers. All you have to do is tell the person at the dealer's parts department what you want.
