1997 Ford Expedition 97 Expedition Exit Vehicle Passenger Side Because Overhead

I have a 97 Expedition. I have to exit the vehicle from the passenger side because if I don't the overhead lamps and running boards lamps stay on as if the door is open. Is that a sensor problem?

check yoru door switch it may have rusted off at rear where you can't see it.
