Transmission slow to go into reverse on 97 ford contour

I have to wait a little before it goes into reverse.Once it's in it seems ok

how long a wait? if you gas it a little does it go in faster?

yes,if I rev it a bit,it goes into reverse right away

i'll tell you a secret those transmissions are mostly trash. TOO many ford transmissions are trash if you ask me. buy another brand of car. do reseaerch on internet before you do.
