The fuel pump is protected by two fuses, one for the coil inside the car, fuse 18, a 10 amp, and one for the contacts, under the hood, fuse A, a 20 amp.
By "engine control", do you mean the automatic shutdown relay? That one has the coil and contact connected together and protected by a single fuse B under the hood, another 20 amp.
The fuel pump will only run for one second after turning on the ignition switch. It turns on again during engine rotation, (cranking or running).
