won't crank sometimes

my 1997 g1500 chevy van will not crank at times it will be totally dead and I will hear what sounds like a relay chattering in center to passinger side of the dash near the engine compartment.

Start at the power supply. Make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight. Also, check the ground on the engine block to make sure it is clean and tight. Next, check the relay that is making the noise. Switch it with one that has the same part number.
