engine swap

I am planning on switching the 5.7 liter vortec engine for a 454 in my 1997 c/k chevy pickup. Im getting a long block and would like to know what other parts i need to getto complete the switch. I know very little about vehicles

The last sentence says it all. Plan on replacing the springs, radiator, engine computer, wiring harnesses, flex plate, transmission, drive shaft, body computer, dash wiring, instrument cluster, fuel pump, AC compressor and hoses, engine mounts, cross member, and those are just the things I can think of in a hurry. You're way better off looking for a truck that came with your desired engine package right from the factory.
