I just replaced two lifter in this 97 chevy monte carlo 3.1 liter the intake lifter on number five the roller on the bottom was broke. Had to have lifter puller to remove. Put the car all back together getting fire and fuel but when starting the car the motor only turns half a turn them its like the starter doesnt engage anymore and just spins seems to have good compression when it turns over what could this be.

Remove plugs and rotate engine with socket on balancer bolt, if it will not rotate or binds, then the cam lobe may be damaged, pushrod bent.

Did you check cam lobe?
