Diagnostic fault codes never say to replace parts or that they're defective. They only indicate the circuit or system that needs further diagnosis or the unacceptable operating condition.
You didn't say which temperature sensor was listed in the code. You need to start by measuring the voltage on its signal wire or with a scanner to see why the code set. Temperature sensors hardly ever fail because there's just one component in them. It's more common to find corroded or stretched terminals in the connector, or broken wires.
