Just got new shoes and drums for my cavalier put everything on as it should turned adjusters in all the way got the proper size drums just noticed when I got the shoes that the pad on the front was thinner than the pad on the back and I dont know if thats the way its supposed to be or not? But I can not get the new drums to fit over the shoes I have no idea whats causing it I have been working on brakes and cars my whole life and this cavalier is really making me scratch my head? The wheel cylinders and working properly as well put all new hardware in with the shoes drums will not fit over shoes what so ever?

CHECK THESE OUT!

http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web/PartSearchCmd?storeId=10151&catalogId=10051&pageId=partTypeList&suggestion
=&actionSrc=Form&langId=-1&searchTerm=
brake+shoes&vehicleIdSearch=33108&searchedFrom=header

IF YOU WILL CLICK ON THE 1st AND THEN THE 2nd SET OF "SILVER" BRAKE SHOES

YOU WILL NOTICE ONE IS FOR A "225mm" DRUM AND THE OTHER IS FOR A "200mm"

OBVIOUSLY?

YOU MIGHT HAVE THE 200mm DRUM TRYING TO CRAM 225mm SHOES UNDER IT!

THAT'S MY BEST GUESS

TOO MANY CHANGES IN ALL OF THESE NEWER VEHICLES! WHO'D EVEN GUESS THERE ARE 2 DIFFERENT BRAKES ON THIS VEHICLE - THE PARTS GUY PROBABLY DID NOT OFFER THE 2 DIFFERENT SETS WHEN YOU ASKED FOR SHOES

YOUR THOUGHTS?

SEEN THIS MANY TIMES!

PARTS GUY PULLS OUT SEVERAL BOXES TO SHOW TO THE CUSTOMER

CUSTOMER AND HIS PALS PLAY "MUSICAL PARTS" WITH THE PARTS

THE PARTS ARE THEN CRAMMED INTO THE BOXES AND PUT BACK ON THE SHELVES

WERE THEY IN THE RIGHT BOX OR NOT?

SURE WAY TO SEE IF YOU HAVE WHAT YOU SAY YOU HAVE

REMOVE THE SHOES

PLACE THEM IN THE "LOOSE DRUM"

SHOVE THEM AGAINST THE OUTER SURFACE OF THE DRUM

DO THEY LAY IN THERE MATING PERFECTLY, SHOE AGAINST DRUM?

OR IS THERE AIR SPACE BETWEEN THEM? (INDICATING EITHER THE SHOE OR THE DRUM IS WRONG)

SURE YOU ARE "SUPPOSED" TO HAVE THE 200 AND NOT THE 225 SET?

OTHER THAN THAT, I'D SAY SOMETHING MIGHT NOT BE ASSEMBLED RIGHT?

CAN YOU SEND A WELL LIT PIC OF THE ASSEMBLY MINUS THE DRUM?

MAYBE WE CAN SEE SOMETHING THAT YOU MISSED? (PROVIDED YOU HAVE NOT FIGGERED IT OUT YET!)

SEE HOW SIMPLE IT WAS BACK IN 1946!

Its not the shoes because the new drums barely even squeeze over the old crappy wore down old ones. Could a jammed e brake maybe hold it up but its never been engaged though
