I was driving and all of a sudden I couldn't accelerate anymore, when I push the gas it just revs up and doesn't accelerate. It won't shift into gear at all, when I shift it is really smooth, I'v been told "too smooth, " like there is nothing catching like it should be. I got a code reader and the codes are: p0134, p0300, p0420 and p1406. My brother told me that my vacuum hose is broken, almost in half and that may have something to do with it. He's pretty good with cars and said he doesn't think the transmission is out, but something else and could be an easier fix just don't know what it is exactly. I'v had problems before with this but all that happened before was it would get stuck in a lower gear and not want to shift into higher gears while driving, I would push on the break and wait for it to switch gears and it always worked, this time it didn't.

Fix the vacuum leak first and any other that you find the code 300 is a misfire code and have apro diagnose that as these are hard to find as it can be a sensor or anything else. I think after you fix the vacuum problems have it scanned again. The 420 is a catalytic converter which might be from the leak but I kind of doubt it. The engine has to run right for trans to work right.

Ok thank you so much, is there a certain kind of vacuum hose to buy for a 97 buick skylark? And do you know about how much it would be to take it to a pro and have him atleast figure out what is making it misfire? Also are misfire fixes generally expensive or cheaper? Thanks again so much honestly I wasnt expecting to get an answer back without paying money but im a full time student. So broke.I really appreciate u answering back.
