When the problem occurs, if it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. You use a spark tester from the autostore, keep it in the glove box, won't get hot. If the plug wires are hot, use gloves or spark plug wire puller or use both. Pull spark plug wire loose, use spark tester in boot, ground tester to metal part of engine. Have helper crank it while you check for spark at the tester.
Could be a problem with rpm signal--ignition module, if it is a spark issue. At some point you need to check fuel pressure, use a gage. Try not to spray gas all over a hot engine.
Can you check for applicable trouble codes? Some of the national brand autostores will check codes for free.
