This car has an anti theft ignition device. We think we tried it to many times incorrectly, which seems to have disabled the fuel pump. It turns over and runs for about 3 to 5 seconds, then sputters out. How do we fix this and get the fuel pump reengaged and disable the anti theft ignition device for future? We already replaced the fuel filter and the fuel pump, still doesn't work.

This is most likely caused by an issue with the key or the control module that senses the keys resistance. I attached the information about this system. Does the vehicle every "time out" after 3 starts? Meaning after trying to start 3 times, does the engine stop cranking when the key is turned?

If the engine keeps starting and stalling then this is not the issue. Is the security light flashing or staying on while this is happening? If not, I am not sure we have a security issue. Sounds like we may have a fuel issue.

Let me know and we can go from there. Thanks

Thanks for the reply. It always starts and then stalls. The security light is on while starting it and stays on until it shuts off. My other friend thinks that the new fuel pump we installed may actually be bad. He says its happened to him before. So I guess we'll try exchanging it and see what happens. Thanks

That could be. The theft light shouldn't be staying on like that but if it does this continuously then I would agree the pump may be failed. You can just test fuel pressure to confirm this. Here is a guide that will help with that:
