power steering leak

What is the average price to repair a power steering leak. the one mechanic said i need to replace my rack and pinnon steering which will cost me over $1,ooo.00 is this correct?

I think thats a little high, second and third opinion, will be needed, if you have a leak at the rack, it may only be a hose, dont get scammed, and dont go to a dealer, they are whey more expensive
