- oil pressure drop shortly after starting - goes from 50 to redzone in 4 minutes. New oil and filter same results. Causes engine to knock shut off immed. 3800 series 2, 120k miles, oil was changed 700 miles prior by a garage, they had put in 10 qts, daughter did not check behind them. Buick le sabre 1997 model

This does not sound like a good thing. Most of the time when you have the oil pressure drop like this it means that your bearing passages inside your engine are so worn that they won't hold pressure anymore.
