door bell won't stop dingin

door was left open for an extended amount of time, when shut door still dings, have made sure that all doors are closed, even attempted to stop door from dinging by shutting it off with the control swith inside the door. does not work.

Check the switch in the door latch assembly to make sure it is working and not out of position.

Does the dome light turn off when you manually push in the switch or close the door? If it doesn't, you need the switch replaced.
