Engine wont crank over

I have a new starter even had it retested new battery. Sometimes it will click sometimes nothing. All conections seem to be clean and tight. Any suggestions

Now its time to check/test the ignition switch-also is this an auto or manual transmission?

It has an auto transmission also when I took the starter to have it tested it tested fine there but I cannot duplicate it at home jumping the terminals

No I was connecting it right the starter was bad I had it retested thanx anyway
