car rpms sometimes drop to zero then back up to1000 while stopped.

sometimes engine will die mostly rpms flucuate -- no problem when accellerating or driving at normal speeds.

I would have the vehicle scanned for codes probably has a iac motor malfuntioning. Thanks Billymac

Seems the idle control system is nt working correctly.

Have the throttle body and IAC cleaned and retest.

If you have the 2.5L engine, check the valve clearances as well.
