1997 acura cl 3.0 vtec. why does a catalytic converter cost a lil over $250 @ one store but then in another it cost less than $100 ? why so much of a gap between the prices ?

Its probably due to who manufacter it and its performance reliability and the downfall economy, businesses like to make a lil money to keep the shop rolling

Cats do contain precious and expensive materials, after market will not be a well made and with the lower quality the price will be less, but not always cheap is good in this case.
