what weight oil? does it do it hot or cold? does it get louder on rev/acceleration? can you hear it at idle?

Runs normal not or cold don't know what weight oil is used. It only sounds like a rod knocking at idale and low speeds.

idle means lower oil pressure. do you have a gauge? or get the pressure tested. enough miles for worn parts. if it does not increase in loudness with load/rpm then not likely a rod bearing.
