Can my heated rear windscreen explode in freezing temperatures if I switch it on, because the other day my rear window just exploded for no reason and I had the heated screen on and it was -7 c outside.

Just today my Passenger back window exploded in my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It was 20 degrees outside and my husband got in the truck and shut the door and the window exploded. So I think that the cold weather can cause it to explode or the old age of the cars.

The temp may cause an old safety glass to fracture if it has a minor flaw, using the demister will not as this temp rises very slowly.
