tailgate mechanical does not work properly

see if tehre is an access panel on the inside adn try to remove it. then you can try to access teh rods to open it or see if any clips are broken. You may have a clip broken or a rod bent and isn't pulllin gthe latches far enough in to open the gate. You may try lubing it and the latches as alot of times that is the problem as well.
