T, need help, please the rear end end went out due to leaking axle seals.I bought a 1995 by mistake, stupid me!They do not refund $$ and a 96 rear end costs $700-1000. Of which they do not have.I was told by them (junk yard) that you can take the 3rd member out and put in in the 96 rear end and replace axle seals and it would work. My son who will be doing the work says he does not think this will work as the 96 rear end has imploded (his words). And they are just too different.?Also has a sensor on the 95 rear end that he is not sure where it would go. Is it even possible to put 95 parts in a 96 and make it work?Any ideas or suggestion are welcome.

How did you buy wrong part?I mean they have books that tell them what fits what? You just guessed? And usually they can locate another part from different source? Are you in usa?

Nasty people if they wont do refund since you got year wrong? Especially considering the amount? Did they offer credit slip?

I would think you would have heard noises way before it imploded indicating something was amiss? Like whining noise from low oil? I'd just keep hounding them for a refund. Maybe look on net for vehicle specific forum to ask about guts swap.

They would do do credit slip, but still have to buy correct rear end. Did hear a little noise, was going to get the seals replaced but went out before I could.
The question is can the internals of the 95 rear end be used in 96?

I've made all the suggestions I can right now. Have son disassemble/inspect 96 for re-use. Check with dealer parts/service dept for possible swap of internals. Maybe another helper here will continue with answers.
