You have to get the same thing to replace it. The link functions as a fuse, so you need something that will burn out at a specific amperage.

thanks for responding so quickly...how do I know the amperage..the fusible link is explained as a cable bridge instead of a fuse?

Yes, it is basically a wire that functions as a fuse. It should have the amperage on it. Is there anything written on it?
