why is my car smelling like gas on the gasoline cap?

my car is smelling of gas from the same side of the gasoline cap...i checked and there was no problem with it.

The gas cap may not be venting properly and needs to be replaced. Also summer temperatures can cause evaporation that leads to an odor as new additives like Ethanol are now in gasoline.
