1996 Saturn SL2 transmission shifting hard

My transmission was shifting hard and when you put in reverse and give gas it kicks into gear with a hard shift. When you let foot off brake and put reverse it takes a second but pops in reverse smoothly. When about to take off in drive 1/2/3 ocerdrive on or off. Its lags allot almost like I am riding the clutch in a manual but mine is automatic. I took it to a tranny shop since the check engine ligjt came on and the codes were p0732/p0733 and another one. They said first two codes were saying that the 1/2 gear ratiin was off. And last code was same but 4th gear. They said I needed a new tranny. So they were charging me more tgen my rent so I replaced it myself.. Same issues. No change. Could this mean maybe my backup neutral safety switch is off its oems reading. At least that's a suggested repky from a friend. Please help.
