Where and on what side of this engine of a 1996sl2 1.9 liter 5 speed is the starter and how many bolts hold it in place and also and what size bolts are they ?

When you follow the positive battery cable towards the engine, it'll take you straight to it, then you'll know what to do from there.

Just to add to this one it's on the drivers side of the engine under the intake manifold it's held in by two 13mm bolts i use a 3/8" drive 13mm wobble socket with a 4" extension that works great to get the top bolt out.There is also a 10mm nut holding the battery cable and fuse link going to the alternator on the starter.The there is a 10mm nut holding the purple trigger wire on the starter.
