If your replacing the halfshaft, get a socket that will fit the new nut. Go to the autostore, tell them you want to see a halfshaft for your vehicle, tell them you want a socket for that nut. I've seen issues where the old halfshaft nut and the new one were different od size. A new socket wouldn't work on both. If your not going to reuse the old nut, use a socket with a close fit. Hopefully you have a basic set of sockets and wrenches. I don't know the actual size, just trying to help.

The originals are usually a 32mm-34mm nut I think but, as stated, replacement half shafts can have different size nuts. Make sure you get the correct torquing/loading info and don't just hammer the new nut on with an impact wrench.

That is aggravating when the socket won't fit both the old nut and new. That's the way it is, sometimes.
