cold air one minute and the next hot air

I had my 1996 Nissan Sentra gxe. 1.6 engine a/c check because it will be cold air one minute and the next hot air. I was told that it has plenty freon, but the compressor could be going out.

It sound like the system is low on refrigerant, have you had it checked?
