i changed the water pump on a 96 Eclipse and had to set the timing belt. got it running and now when I start the car it revs to about 3500rpms then goes to idle 1000 rpms then when shifting into any gear after pushing on the clutch to shift it spi

Make sure the timing is correct. Make sure there are no vacuum leaks. Make sure the IAC is okay

Recheck the valve and ignition timing if okay-look for vacuum leak and misrouted vacuum line

There are two vaccum lines that dont run to anything but there not blowing out or sucking in. But it ran fine befor removing the timing chain but it runs fine other than it reving up when u go to shift or start it
