First, the fact it wouldn't start in park but would in neutral, tells me the neutral safety switch is bad. It is on the transmission. Its purpose is to avoid starting the engine while the transmission is in gear.
Next, if all you get is a clicking, that sounds like a weak / dead battery. Have you tried to jump start it? Have you had the battery tested? What to do is this. Using a volt meter, test how much voltage the battery is producing with the engine off and the key off. Next, have a helper try to crank the engine. For the engine to start, the voltage can not drop below 9.6 volts. If it does, chances are the battery is bad or the starter is drawing too much power. At that point, fully charge the battery, remove it, and take it to a parts store and have them load test the battery. If it passes, (I don't think it will), then you need to have the starter checked.
