I just bought a 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee Loredo after sitting for a few years. It runs and drives but why does the oil pump lose pressure? Oil pressure comes up but only for a few seconds and then drops to zero. I added a can of seafoam because that's what was recommended by everyone that I asked about it. Even the parts store guy. Still same thing over and over.

Chemicals aren't going to fix a mechanical problem. The first thing is to have the actual oil pressure tested with a mechanical gauge. If it is normal, suspect the sending unit.
