I too have a 1996 Grand Cherokee and the overhead lights will not turn off so I've removed the 40amp fuse in the fusebox but that's left me without the electronic display on the dash in front of the gear lever (not too important to me) and the turn indicators which is a heck important! My wife said she went over a bump and the overhead lights came on from the jolt.Does anyone have any idea about what's happened?

I looked at a jeep grand cherokee laredo. Didn't see 40 amp fuse for courtesy lamps, saw 10 amp fuse. That courtesy lamp relay in the diagram, controls the ground for courtesy lamps, when energized.
