For the last 2 months my Jeep has been stalling while sitting at red lights, or even if I stop at stop signs. I've taken it to 2 auto repair shops the first shop replaced the crank sensor, the very next day same problem of stalling. I took it back he replaced the distributor cap, same day it stalled again. Had the Jeep towed back to first shop after 2 days I called him, he advised problem was intermittent and if I wanted to come get the Jeep I could. I when and got it 2 days later, when I arrived the owner advised he replaced the ignition switch & cylinder lock, why I have no clue. He stated to drive the Jeep for a couple of weeks and see what happens. It stalled the very next day, fed up and frustrated I took it to a new repair shop. They replaced the coil, I went to pick it up and it actually stalled out in the parking lot of the repair shop. The guy came out started it up and played with it by changing gears while placing his foot on the brake and gas at the same time. Stated it was good to go. The very next afternoon while running an errand it shook then stalled out. 2nd repair guy called as it stalled I advised him of it stalling, he asked me to bring it back to him which I did. I called at 5pm he stated it was something electrical & he didn't know what it was. I went to pick up my Jeep it's sat in my garage since. I've read forums advising it could be the screws in the PCM, or possibly the throttle position sensor. Just at my wits end, as this was given to me by my who never had these problems?

COST YOU LITTLE TO DO THIS--I HAD NO ENGINE SIZE TO GO BY (SEE WHAT I PUT INTO SEARCH CRITERIA,FIX, IF NECESSARY. SEE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE!)

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/1996-Jeep-Cherokee-2WD/Idle-Air-Control-Valve/_/N-j59qiZ9gsof?filterByKeyWord=IAC&fromString=search

IAC---LOOKS LIKE 2 BOLTS---SOME CARB CLEANER--TOOTH BRUSH---MAYBE SOME GENTLE SCRAPING

THE PLUNGER AND IN THE HOLE IT GOES INTO, IS WHAT NEEDS ATTENTION. LOOK AT THE CONNECTOR FOR PROBLEMS TOO.

IF YOU GET "POSITIVE CHANGE" IN OPERATION, MAYBE WE HAVE FOUND THE PROBLEM!

YOUR CALL ON IT BEING CLEAN AND BETTER OPERATING, OR JUST REPLACING IT.

I SORTA GAUGE THINGS BY AGE AND MILEAGE AS TO MY NEXT MOVE.

INTERNALLY, IT COULD STILL BE MALFUNCTIONING, EVEN IF CLEANED TO PERFECTION....SO IT MAY NOT BE TOTALLY RULED OUT AS THE CULPRIT, WHEN YOU DO THIS.

ON THE OTHER HAND, IF I'M WRONG---YOU'RE OUT $4, AND HAVE PERFORMED A LITTLE MAINTENANCE.

YOUR CALL

RETURN WITH GOOD NEWS!
