1996 Isuzu Adventure Heater Won T Work Truck Over Heats Cools Down Driving Heat

The heater won't work and the truck over heats it cools down when driving and heat will come on but soon as there no heat it over heats. This happens when im at stop lights or idle.we changed the thermostat.

check coolant level and pressure check for leaks first. then when it's hot, place hand on radiator in different places, if you feel any cold spots rad needs rebuilt or replaced. make sure engine is off an dfan if electric is disconnected.
