when i turn on my indicator my temperature gauge goes to high

Inspect and test the coolant temperature sensor-

Check on the thermostat housing-

thank you for your help my car is now ok no problems. I think when i opened the bonnet today and water went down in the wiring it must have caused a short the temperature gauge is now on normal. thanks Joy
