Will an engine swap level my cars performance

So I have a 1996 Honda Civic Ex Automatic Transmission it has about 170 thousand plus miles on it and is starting to act up, the brakes are going, transmission is iffy and etc. I was wondering if an engine swap would do any good as well as level up performance and if so what engines are compatible with my model Honda?

An engine change won't fix the trans or brakes. If it is still running good, I would let it go and repair the other problems.
