My car seemed to be starting up fine.....until yesterday when i tried to swing the key it just made a clicking noise and refused to start. Well i do have a bit of an idea with vehichles and can do the basics.

I then connected a cord from the positive terminal of the battery to the starter and the car started, i did the exact same thing today and now the orange malfunction light seems to be coming on only when i touch the cord to the starter to start up.

Why is this, because yesterday nothing happened.

Thank you.

Dozens of bad things can happen when you start jumping power on a car full of electronic modules. I suggest you stop doing that and have it professionally checked. They will need a scan tool to find what codes have been stored.

Have the ignition switch checked.

Is this an automatic or manual transmission?
