chirping noise like a bird coming from the engine

I have a 1996 VS commodore 176000km,it has a chirping noise like a bird coming from the motor,what is this & would it last a 3hr trip It has just started.

maybe bad bearing on alternator or belt idler wheel.

Check serpentine belt and get the tensioner checked there is a wear indicator on it that shows if the tensioner has lost to much tension.If the belt shows any signs of cracking replace it as well.
