1996 GMC Savana headlights

headlights go off without using the switch they will turn back on after about two minuets. i am really concerned with this issue do to the fact that i can't see at night and could be hazardous to my heath and i could endanger and or harm others who cannot see me nor could i see them
what would cause this problem?

check for corrosion around headlights and if you find any put dielectric grease there after cleaning connections. if you have daytime running lights, have it scanned for the module and check relay underhood.
